Army Logic III

Who was at Catterick in January 1969 doing a RISTACOM Course ?
You might remember a very
important rugby match to be played at Mons lines. Trouble is it snowed
all day and you couldn't see the pitch. No worries, the army had the answer.
At about 4.30 in the arvo (already dark) we all had to front up to the
pitch with shovels, there must have been at least a hundred of us. We would
clear the snow off the pitch. Sounds hard ? The army had a plan. We all
were lined up down one side of the pitch and on the command, started shovelling
snow ahead of us. The plan was to shovel it all to the other side, leaving
the pitch clear. In about five minutes, after clearing about 1 yard we
were all sweating with a pile of snow about 6 feet high in front of us,
only another 49 yards to go ! Oh, forgot to mention, it was still snowing
behind us.It was finally abandoned after a general fit of laughing (by
the sqaddies, not the Ruperts !) I think the wallie that dreamed that scheme
up went on to organise a war or something.
