Down on the 38th Parallel
My Dad, Harry Adams served in Korea,  although he never talked about it he brought this poem back,
I don't know whether he wrote it or not. But I thought it would evoke memories for some,
and they may be able to tell my the history or it. Carol Bamping

Down on the 38th Parallel,
Seoul is the spot
Where I am doomed to spend my time
In a land that God forgot

Down with the rice and “Commies”
Down where a man gets blue
Right in the middle of no-where
And many thousand miles from you

We sweat we shiver and we freeze
It’s more than I can stand
We’re not a bunch of convicts
Just defenders of the old land

We’re members of a body armour team
Earning a measly pay
Conducting a scientific survey
For a couple of bob a day

Living with memories
Waiting to see our gals
Hoping that while we’re away
They haven’t married our pals.

Few people know we’re living
Few people give a dam
Although we’re not forgotten at home
We will do what we can

The time we spend in the army
The good things we have missed
Boy we hope you don’t get drafted
And for Gods sake don’t enlist

When we get to heaven
St Peter will surely yell
They are from Korea dear Lord
They have served their time in hell.
