Many years ago I was told this story by my brother ( I think, I was very drunk at the time).
It was at the Captains Table and the accused was standing to attention. The charge was read out with the usual pomp and ceremony (not to mention relish) by the 1st Lieutenant.
"Who is making these allegations?" asked the Skipper.
Pulling himself up to his full height the Chief Electrician replied
"I am the Alligator Sir......."

It may or may not be true but if it isn't, it should be.
