UN Blue

by Andrew Thomas

We all deployed in un blue,
As part of an armoured fighting crew.
Deployed from celle in early may,
For our tour of duty a 6 month stay.

Long hours patrolling in Bosnian Hills,
all remembering our contact drills,
sporadic gunfire all around,
we take cover and hit the ground.

Checkpoints and guard we did our bit,
Hurry up now, i want my pit.
The dirt, the dust we where there,
Un beret we did wear!

Medal awarded to us all,
Captain Wormald he did fall,
no fanfare for us as we leave the plane,
we are the poachers, we seek no fame!

If you have a anecdote, funny story, limerick or song that you remember from your service, we would like to publish it.
Please send your stories or songs to James Paul
