British Troops killed in Bosnia

This Roll of Honour is dedicated to the personnel who died in peacekeeping operations in Bosnia.

We are aware that this Roll of Honour is not complete varying sources place the number of Bosnia conflict's British forces casualties between 40 and 75, more details will be added as we find them. If you have any additions or corrections please email james@britains-smallwars.com.

Flight Sergeant Malcolm Walter Gilmore, United Kingdom Support Unit Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (UKSU SHAPE) died from a heart attack in Camp Able, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, on 10th June 2006.

Trooper Adam Edward Slater, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's) died following a mine explosion on the Macedonia/Kosovo Border on 13th April 2001.

Private Paul George Crellin, King's Own Royal Border Regiment died from a gun shot wound in Manjaca Ranges on 7th September 2000.

Lance Bombadier Christopher Mathew Manley, Royal Artillery died of a heart attack in Sanski Most on 26th August 2000.

Craftsman Anthony Richard Pike, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers died from a gun shot wound in Bosnia on 4th May 2000.

Lance Corporal Katie Louise Tranter, Adjutant General's Corps (Staff & Personnel Support) (AGC (SPS)), aged 19, died in Oxford on 27 February 2000, as a result of an accident which occurred in Split, Croatia.

with the Nato-led peace keepers in Bosnia were killed in December 1999 when their armoured car went off a bridge.

Cpl Peter Bradley, Royal Engineers, was killed on 11th September 1999 while trying to disarm a hand grenade, given to him by a young boy. Four other soldiers were injured in the incident and a Bosnian civilian was killed.

Private Paul John McManus, Royal Logistic Corps died following a fall in Bosnia on 4th September 1999.

Sergeant Robert David Lyon, The Parachute Regiment died following a road traffic accident near Prozor on 8th May 1999.

Gunner Christopher William Smith, Royal Artillery died in a road traffic accident south west of Glamoc on 28th April 1999.

Lance Cpl Christopher John Addis, 669 Squadron 4 Regiment Army Air Corps.
Died on 31st December 1998 of injuries sustained in the same crash which killed Sergeant Kinsley and Captain Jarvis.

The two above men, both from 669 Squadron 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, were killed in a helicopter accident in Bunja-Luka in Bosnia on 22nd December 1998.

Sapper Stephen Anthony Stewart, Royal Engineers died in an accident in Mrkonjic Grad on 8th December 1998.

Lance Corporal Tammy Gill, Royal Army Medical Corp died in Royal Hospital Haslar, Gosport on 24th September 1998 following a road traffic accident which occurred in the Former Yugoslavia.

Lance Corporal Jason Lawrence, Royal Army Medical Corp died resulting from a road traffic accident in south east of Sanski on 23rd June 1998.

Lance Corporal Kevin Bell, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers died resulting from a road traffic accident in Banja Luka on 11th June 1998.

Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Baker, Intelligence Corps died from a heart attack in Sarjevo on 25th October 1997.

Lance Corporal Anthony Claire, Royal Logistic Corps died from natural causes in Split on 24th October 1997.

Both of the Royal Logistic Corps died after a road traffic accident in Mrkonijic Grad on 7th July 1997.

Lance Corporal Kevin Mark Pawley, Royal Logistic Corps died from gunshot wounds in Banja Luka on 1st December 1996.

Corporal Gregory Karsten Sheppard, Adjutant General's Corps died from choking in Bosnia on 6th November 1996.

Lance Corporal Steven Mark Thirlwell, The Prince of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment died after a road traffic accident near Cold Hussar on 4th November 1996.

Private Simon Lee Terence Jeans, Royal Logistic Corps died in Frimley Park, Frimley, Surrey on 17th September 1996 following an assault in Kastel Luksic, Split, Croatia.

Trooper Aled Martin Jones, 1st Queens Dragoon Guards, died in Bosnia on 18th July 1996 of gunshot wounds.

Private David John Baird, Royal Logistic Corps died as a result of head injuries in Trojir Croatia on 14th May 1996.

Signaller Andrew Thomas Martindale, Royal Signals, died on 8th May 1996 of a gunshot wound while serving with IFOR in Visegrad.

Lance Corporal Christopher Stuart McLeish, Royal Engineers died in Bundeswehe Krakenhaus Kob, Germany, on 18th March 1996 from burns sustained in Bosnia.

Private Simon Leslie Fox, The Light Infantry died from a gun shot wound in Kulen Vakuf onth 28th February 1996.

Trooper John Robert Kelly, The Light Dragoons died as a result of a mine explosion in Titov Devar on 28th January 1996.

Trooper Andrew Ovington, The Light Dragoons died in Titov Devar on 28th January 1996.

Lieutenant Richard Wyndham Madden, The Light Dragoons died as a result of a mine explosion in Titov Devar on 28th January 1996.

Signaller Mark Maxwell, Royal Signals died from a gun shot wound in Sarajavo on 24th December 1995.

Fusilier Gary Riches, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers died from a gun shot wound in Bugojno on 25th October 1995.

Staff Sergeant Ronald Paul Hodgkinson, Royal Signals died from natural causes in Croatia on 5th September 1995.

All from the Army Air Corps died in a helicopter crash near Ploce Cortia on 20th August 1995.

Private Dale Little, Royal Logistic Corps, died in Tomislavgrad from gunshot wounds on 22nd July 1994.

Private Darren Stuart Hole, The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, aged 21, died as a result of a gun shot wound in Vitez, Bosnia and Herzegowina, on 23 June 1995.

Private Indrakumar Limbu, Gurkha Rifles, died in London on 14th June 1995 following a road traffic accident which occured in Bosnia.

Lance Corporal Stephen John Hunt, Royal Logistic Corps, died from natural causes in Visoko, on 7th June 1995.

Signaller Lee Ryan Harper, Royal Signals died after falling from a moving vehicle in Split, Croatia on 25th March 1995.

Private James Christopher Bainger, Royal Army Medical Corp died from gun shot wounds in Zepce on 18th November 1994.

All of The Royal Gloucestshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, were killed in an accident involving their Saxon armoured car on 12th September 1994.

Pte B. Hinton, The Royal Gloucestshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, killed in an accident involving his Saxon armoured car on 9th September 1994.

Sapper Barry John Nicholas, Royal Engineers, was killed during a mine clearance operation on the outskirts of Gornji-Vakuf on 16th August 1994.

Corporal Philip Keith Bottomley, Royal Logistic Corps died from a gun shot wound in Sarajevo on 27th July 1994.

Pte Shaun Richard Taylor C Company, lst Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Killed in Gorazde 26th June 1994 whilst engaged in heavy fighting with Bosnian-Serb forces while manning an observation post.

Captain Steven Peter Wormald, 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment, killed in Bosnia April 1984 when he was blown up by a mine while on patrol in a landrover.

Marine Timothy Patrick Coates, 42 Commando Royal Marines, was shot and died in Sarajevo on 17th April 1994.

Corporal Fergus McIndoe Rennie, The Parachute Regiment, died from a gun shot wound in Gorazde on 15th April 1994.

Corporal Barney Dylan Warburton, Royal Engineers, died from a landmine explosion in Stari Vitez on 19th March 1994.

Lance Corporal John Darren Rocke, Royal Irish Regiment, died from a gun shot wound in Vitez, on 6th March 1993.

Lance Corporal Wayne John Edwards, Royal Welch Fusiliers, died from a gun shot wound in Gornji Vakuf on 13th January 1993.
