 I served for 3 years in the Canal Zone. I also volunteered to drive cranes in Port Said, that is where I was injured.  After I got better I went back to my unit, I am

 I served for one year at Abu Sultan, 1953-54. Working with explosivs, i.e. dumping explosives in the Med and blowing up expired bombs in the desert, the explosion could be heard for miles.
