The Champaign of our Cause

Tom Radford

From the beginning of this campaign for a medal, Tom Radford has been right in the forefront of the battle.   He has corresponded and attended a number of interviews with MP's who were sympathetic to our cause.   Working with Lt Colonel "Pip" Newton  Tom was responsible for  the 20,000 signature petition, that was submitted to Parliament and even though it was turned down has kept pushing  and is now working through His Royal British Legion Branch in Birkenhead  to get the the medal issue brought up before the Royal British Legion National Committee, and thereby make it a National issue and get the full backing of the National Committee when it is next presented to parliament.

Tom is the type who never gives up, and deserves all our help... All the trips to Parliament were done at his own expense and the last one in particular  took a lot of time to complete because of flooding and railway problems in Britain.   These photographs .show the pile of signed petition forms sent in by readers of the Echo newspaper from Liverpool, being checked by Tom, the other photo shows Tom during his service in the Suez Canal Zone as a member of the Cheshire Regiment,  where he served for two  years,   Tom has shared with this Web-site  all the information relating to the Medal issue  that he has come across in his research and has built quite a file on the subject, and hopefully this  information and additional information being dug up each day will give us an airtight case that the MOD and the Government  will at last have to move on and give us the medal we deserve.   We are very lucky to have this man on our side.  I have asked and was given permission to publish his home address and phone number.
