Information
Awarded to all branches of the British Armed Forces, Merchant Navy and Civilians who took part in the operations in the South Atlantic. Point of interest 7.000 issued to the Army, 13.000 to the Royal Navy and 3.700 to the Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary 2.000, Royal Air Force 2.000, Merchant Navy and Civilians 2.000
Description
The Obverse of the Medal crowned profile of Queen Elizabeth 11.Reverse laurel wreath below the Arms of the Falkland Islands with South Atlantic medal inscribed round the top.
Rosette
To qualify for the award the recipient had to have at least one full day's service in the Falklands or South Georgia, or 30 day's in the operational zone including Ascension Island. Those who qualified under the first condition were additionally awarded a large Rosette for wear on the ribbon.
