General 
Information
The Naval general service Medal was issued for all conflicts short of a declaration of War, and issued to all Men of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. Also to members of the Commonwealth Navies. Since 1945 there have been 11 Campaign bars  the medal was not issued without a  campaign Bar, Three issues of the medal have been made bearing the heads of George V, George V1 or E.11.R. The Medal was discontinued in 1962, when it was decided to issue one General service Medal for all Campaigns for all HM Forces.
Description
On the rim of the NGSM  will be engraved the Name and service No of the recipient Plus RN or RM.
Bars
The campaign bars awarded for. S.E.Asia 1945-46, Minesweeping 1945-51, Palestine 1945-48, Malaya (George V1) E.11.R, Yangtze 1949, Bomb and mine clearance 1945-53, Bomb and mine clearance Mediterranean, Cyprus, Near East, Arabian Peninsular, Brunei.
