While others, like us, knew the passing of the years. ' Loyal and Steadfast, we are one ships company. In comradeship of life and faith that conquers death, We will rember them.
H.M.S. Consort, motto "Loyal and Steadfast" as a tribute, that motto was fully endorsed by the ultimate price paid by those named above, killed in action on the Yangtze River, while making three valiant efforts to rescue and take in tow H.M.S. Amethyst, 20th April 1949. Sonny Leitch |

My
father was Peter John Rogers RM14414 ,who served with the 3rd Royal Marine
Commando in late 50's and early 60's(1952-64?).
He served in a number of marine commando units such as "40","42" and "45" commando during the Suez crisis 1956. He was affectionately known as "Sticks", I guess that was due to him being a bugler/drummer. He also made journeys on H.M.T. Dunera and H.M.S. Parapet 1960. Also served on HMY Britannia. He has sadly recently passed away (Jan 26th 2006) through ill health. He was a wonderful Dad who gave his children everything. He will be sadly missed but knowing he will be reunited with his wife again gives us all some comfort. Russell Rogers (Son of Peter) |
