Kuching Airport
Contributed by Mike Hall
Louisburg Battery Royal Artillery

In 1966 53 Louisburg Battery Royal Artillery was posted to Kuching, Borneo, tasked with providing Anti Aircraft cover for Kuching Airport.

My Gun Sub, equipped with 40/70 Bofors Guns was based on an old Japanese Zero Airstrip, the pockmarked building behind me is (we thought) the control tower for the airstrip, we had our command post on top of the tower.

Part of our duties included carrying out infantry patrols through jungle areas and the picture shows the author on the left ready to go.
