This Roll of Honour is dedicated to the personnel who died in the US led invasion of Afghanistan and the subsequent operations to establish a working democracy in that country.

A British soldier, was killed in the Musa Qaleh area of Afghanistan on 19 May 2008.
Trooper Ratu Sakeasi Babakobau, Household Cavalry Regiment was killed in Helmand, Afghanistan, on 2 May 2008.
Trooper Robert Pearson, Queen's Royal Lancers Regiment was killed in Afghanistan on 21 April 2008.
Senior Aircraftman Graham Livingstone, Royal Air Force Regiment died when their vehiclewas caught in an explosion in Kandahar Province on 13 April 2008.
Senior Aircraftman Gary Thompson, Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment died when their vehiclewas caught in an explosion in Kandahar Province on 13 April 2008.
Lieutenant John Thornton, 40 Commando Royal Marines, died when their vehicle was caught in an explosion in the vicinity of Kajaki, Helmand province on 30 March 2008.

Corporal Damian Mulvihill, 40 Commando Royal Marines was killed in an explosion during an outreach patrol to disrupt enemy forces north of Sangin on 20 February 2008.
Corporal Damian Stephen Lawrence, was injured when an IED exploded during a joint UK - Afghan National Army night patrol in Kajaki in Helmand province on 17 February 2008 and subsequently died from his injuries.
Corporal Darryl Gardiner, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers was killed near the town of Musa Qaleh in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan on 20th January 2008.
Sergeant Lee Johnson, 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) was killed in southern Afghanistan on 8 December 2007.
Trooper Jack Sadler, The Honourable Artillery Company was killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan on 4 December 2007.
Captain John McDermid, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday 14 November 2007.
Lance Corporal Jake Alderton, 36 Engineer Regiment, died in southern Afghanistan on Friday 9th November 2007 in a vehicular accident.
Major Alexis Roberts, 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, was killed by an Improvised explosive device on 4th October 2007.
Colour Sergeant Phillip Newman, 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment.
Private Brian Tunnicliffe, 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters).
The soldiers were killed in an accident in Southern Afghanistan on 20th September 2007.
Corporal Ivano Violino 36 Engineer Regiment was killed in Helmand province,Afghanistan on 17th September 2007.

The two soldiers were killed in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan on 8th September 2007.

Senior Aircraftman Christopher Bridge, C flight, 51 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment was killed in Kandahar Province, southern Afghanistan on 30 August 2007.

The three privates were killed in a friendly fire incident when air support called in during a fire fight with the Taliban struck the soldier's position, north-west of Kajaki, northern Helmand Province on 23rd August 2007.
Captain David Hicks, 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment was killed when his patrol base north east of Sangin in Helmand Province was attacked on 11 August 2007.
Private Tony Rawson, 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment was killed in southern Afghanistan on 10 August 2007.
Lance Corporal Michael Jones, Royal Marines was killed in action during operations in southern Afghanistan on 29 July 2007.
Sergeant Barry Keen, 14 Signal Regiment was killed by a mortar attack in southern Afghanistan on 27 July 2007.
Guardsman David Atherton, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed in South Afghanistan on 26th July 2007.
Lance Corporal Alex Hawkins, 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, was killed in South Afghanistan on 25th July 2007.
Guardsman Daryl Hickey, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed in an assault on a Taliban position while providing covering fire on 12th July 2007.
Sergeant Dave Wilkinson, 19 Regiment Royal Artillery, died from an explosion during a joint patrol in Gereshk, Helmand province on 1st July 2007.
Captain Sean Dolan, 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, died from a mortar round in Helmand province, Aghanistan on 30th June 2007.
Drummer Thomas Wright, 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, was killed on 24th June 2007 when his vehicle was caught in an explosion near Lashkar Gah, Helmand province.
Guardsman Neil 'Tony' Downes, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed on 9th July 2007 when his vehicle was hit by an explosion while on patrol close to Sangin in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Lance Corporal Paul "Sandy" Sandford 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters.
Lance Corporal Paul "Sandy" Sandford was killed while participating in an offensive patrol with his company to disrupt Taliban forces in the Upper Gereshk Valley area of Helmand Province on Wednesday 6 June 2007.
Corporal Mike Gilyeat, Royal Military Police.
Corporal Mike Gilyeat died on Wednesday 30 May 2007 when the American Chinook helicopter he was aboard crashed in the Kajaki area of northern Helmand.

Corporal Darren Bonner died on 28 May 2007, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as a result of an explosion which hit his convoy.

Guardsman Daniel Probyn died on 26 May 2007 following an overnight offensive operation to clear a Taliban stronghold in Garmsir, southern Afghanistan.

Lance Corporal George Russell Davey died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on base in Sangin, Afghanistan on 20th May 2007.

Guardsman Simon Davison was killed by small arms fire from Taliban fighters on 3rd May 2007 when he was manning the eastern checkpoint near the town of Garmsir in Helmand Province.

Private Chris Gray was killed in action on 13th April 2007 whilst fighting the Taliban in Helmand Province during a clearance patrol in the town of Now Zad.

Warrant officer Class 2 Michael Smith sustained injuries when a grenade was fired at the UK forces base at Sangin, Helmand Province he died from the injuries sustained in the attack on 8th March 2007.

Marine Benjamin Reddy died on 6th March 2007 when his unit was fired upon during a clearanceoperation in the Kajaki area of Helmand Province.

Lance Bombardiers Ross Clark and Liam McLaughlin died on 3rd March 2007 in a rocket attack in the Sangin District of Helmand Province.

Marine Scott Summers died on 21st February 2007 from injuries sustained in an earlier road traffic accident.
Marine Jonathan Holland 45 Commando Royal Marines
Marine Jonathan Holland died on 21st February 2007 when his routine patrol hit an anti-personnel mine in teh Sangin District of Helmand Province.

Lance Corporal Mathew Ford died on 15th January 2007 during an offensive operations against a major Taliban fort south of Garmsir in southern Helmand.

Marine Thomas Currey was killed on 13th January 2007 during an offensive operation near Kajaki in northern Helmand.

Lance Bombardier James Dwyer died on 27th December 2006 when his vehicle was struck by an anti-tank mine during a patrol in southern Helmand.

Marine Richard J. Watson was killed in Now Zad on 12th December 2006, located north of Helmand when his patrol was attacked by Taliban forces.

Captain Alex Eida, Second Lieutenant Ralph Johnson and Lance Corporal Ross Nicholls were killed on Tuesday 1st August 2006 in an incident with insurgent forces where their Spartan armoured reconnaissance vehicle was attacked by insurgents with rocket propelled grenades and heavy machine guns.

Corporal Mark Cridge died in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, on 22 March 2006.
Lance Corporal Steven Sherwood, the 1st Battalion, The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry.
Lance Corporal Steven Sherwood died as a result of hostile action in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan on 29th October 2005. Five other members of his patrol were injured when they came under fire.
Private Jonathan Kitulagoda, the Rifle Volunteers, a Territorial Army battalion.
Private Jonathan Kitulagoda was killed on 28th January 2004 when a suicide bomb attack hit his patrol in Afghanistan, four other soldiers were injured. He was serving with the International Security Assistance Force in Kabul.

Sergeant Busuttil and Corporal Gregory were killed on 17th August 2002 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Both died of gunshot wounds at the British base at Kabul International Airport.

An unamed soldier died on 9th April 2002 following an incident during a security patrol in Kabul. hostile action was not involved.
